In Memoriam to Victor Politano, MD (1919 – 2010)

In special recognition of our original project leader, Dr. Victor Politano, who passed away in 2010 after making an invaluable contribution to the development of our lead product, but who also was an unforgettable inspiration to our Company and stockholders, we continue to honor him with his name being at the forefront of our product, the Politano-Sayet-Suherland Flow Control Device. Dr. Politano’s accomplishments as a world renowned leader in the field of urology will continue to honor his name through the many people whose lives he touched both as a clinician and as a pioneer of many significant breakthrough products and procedures he advanced that have improved the lives of countless patients, including, but not limited to the “Development of Teflon Injection for Urinary Incontinence” (1964), the “Development of the Politano-Leadbetter Procedure for the Correction of Vesicoureteral Reflux” (‘58), the “Development of Ureteral Imbrication for the Dilated Ureter” (‘76), and the “Development of the Injection Technique for Vesicoureteral Reflux” (‘81). He was considered by his peers and the medical industry at large to be one of the world’s foremost experts on urinary incontinence and a number of other urological illnesses and conditions. Dr. Politano received numerous awards and honors, and in 2003, received the American Urological Association’s highest lifetime achievement award, the Ramon Guiteras Award and was listed in the Who’s Who in America. Dr. Politano will be sorely missed by all of us, but his legacy will continue on in the product named after him.
Gerald A. Jordan, M.D.
Project Director, Chairman, Board of Advisors and Medical Scientific Board
Dr. Jordan is a noted leader in the field of urology. He received his B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy (in Annapolis) in aeronautical engineering (with merit), completed his Pre-Med at the United States International University (at Cal Western), and his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center (at San Antonio). He completed his internship and residency in basic Surgery and urology, respectively, at the Naval Regional Medical Center (in Portsmouth, VA), and went on to complete several other post-graduate advanced surgical courses including a Fellowship in Pediatric and Adult Reconstructive Urology at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine, his current affiliation. Dr. Jordan has garnered numerous appointments in his long, and distinguished service in the U.S. Armed Forces, and achieved the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve. In 1984, he was certified by the American Board of Urology in the Specialty of Adult and Pediatric Urology. Dr. Jordan has been an instructor for most of his professional career at the Eastern Virginia Medical School, currently designated as a Professor of Urology at that institution. He had served as the Chairman of that Department (from July 2000 to December 2003). Dr. Jordan has been involved on the Editorial Boards, or as an Abstract Reviewer for numerous urology publications including the Journal of Urology, the British Journal of Urology and UROLOGY. He has published over 350 articles and extracts for leading urology publications, and has created dozens of educational videos in the field of urology. As a result, Dr. Jordan has been sought out by professional organizations throughout the world as an expert lecturer on a wide variety of topics related to urology (incl. urinary incontinence), and is recognized for his particular expertise relating to the damage and repair of the urethra. He has given over 500 such lectures throughout the world. Dr. Jordan also has been the Principal, or sub Investigator in dozens of research projects for many of the premier companies in the urology space, and has a particularly extensive background in using and reviewing the functionality of many of our Company’s competing products. He holds professional membership in, or honorary appointments to, over 30 medical organizations in both the U.S. and internationally. He has been the past President of the following organizations; the Virginia Urological Society, the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons and the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, and is listed as a Life Member in the Who’s Who in America.
Frederick Buechel Sr., M.D.
Dr. Buechel is a pioneer in the field of orthopedics and the development of orthopedic prosthesis. From the beginning of his professional career in 1975, when he developed and patented one of the world’s first knee implant prosthesis, he has continued to be at the forefront of the developments in the industry with patents for other joint prosthesis, as well as, dozens of other orthopedic surgical devices and instruments. As a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon, with Fellowships in both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Buechel has also been instrumental in the development of the surgical techniques required to use and implant the devices and instruments he invented. As such, he has been invited to lecture extensively around the world, having made over 500 presentations on five continents, to date. He continues to publish extensively, including over 100 articles in various key periodicals and publications. He has received numerous achievement awards in his fields of expertise, including a number of Emmet Lunceford Scientific Awards. On a personal basis, Dr. Buechel was an All-American wrestler at Seton Hall University, where he received his B.A. in 1967. He received his M.D. degree from the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he also completed his residency program in orthopedic surgery. As a result of his great interest in supporting additional medical research, he has founded the Buechel Patient Care, Research and Education Fund Inc., an organization that funds new medical research in a number of important projects.
Thomas Bowen, M.D. (Brigadier General, Ret.)
Dr. Bowen has had a long and distinguished career as a highly regarded thoracic/cardiac surgeon, a key administrator (in the VA and U.S. Armed Forces hospital system), an academic professor, organizer of healthcare initiatives in the Tampa VA hospital system where he chaired numerous boards and committees and as a Commander of a number of Armed Forces healthcare facilities both in the U.S. and around the world. He just recently retired as the Chief of Staff from the Tampa VA hospital system, a post he held for almost 15 years. During that time, he helped build the Tampa VA into one of the country’s most prestigious and full-service care providers for the nation’s veterans. Additionally, he has had numerous academic appointments, published numerous academic papers, presented at numerous healthcare conferences and has been the key progenitor of important healthcare projects in the Tampa VA hospital system. The General was also a decorated war hero from his days serving as a thoracic/cardiac surgeon in the Vietnam theater-of-war, as well as elsewhere.
Harvey Muskat, CPA, CFF
Mr. Muskat obtained his BS in accounting from Syracuse University, wherein he attained the Dean’s List, and followed with obtaining his certifications as a CPA and in Financial Forensics (CFF). He began his accountant career in 1969, and began his first accounting firm in 1976 (Muskat, Kolber, Glowacki & Co.), and then subsequently joined his current firm in December of 1992, wherein he became one of the principals. He has multiple current professional affiliations, including with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and is a lecturer and teacher for the continuing education programs of both the AICPA and FICPA. Harvey has received honors in his field from the South Florida Business Journal and South Florida Legal Guide, among others, and had been chosen to participate on several accounting and auditing committees of the FICPA. Harvey mainly serves multiple functions for his current accounting firm, as well as, being approved and sanctioned by the AICPA and FICPA to perform on peer reviews of CPA firms nationwide (since 1991).
Mr. Yelen has extensive education credentials, having obtained both a BS/BA and MBA in finance from Northwestern University and a J.D. and LL.M (in Taxation) from the University of Miami. He began his accountant career in 1975, and joined his current firm in July of 1984 (Pinchasik, Yelen, Muskat & Stein LLC). Mitch is the firm’s Director of Tax Services and one of the firm’s principals. He has also been an Arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) since 1984, and has been retained as an expert in approximately 189 litigation cases since 1990. Mitch also currently is an independent director of both the Femwell Group Health, Inc and the Spanish Broadcasting System Inc (a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ), wherein he serves as the Chairman of the Audit Committee.
In Memoriam to Guinter Kahn, M.D. (1934 – 2014)

We also recognize herein, our former Board of Advisor member, and former Director, Dr. Guinter Kahn, for the great contributions he made to our Company through his support and participation prior to his retirement. Dr. Kahn had received a number of prestigious awards including the Distinguished Inventor of the Year award (1988), recognizing his discovery of Minoxidil. He had been selected by the Best Doctors in America (Southeast Region) publication since 1996.
